Washington State - 2011 Hiring and Training Snapshot
Issue 6, March 2011
The Center of Excellence for Aerospace and Advanced Materials Manufacturing welcomes your interest in our communications.
If you look at the big picture of jobs in our country, you may not see too much movement in the unemployment lines from 30,000 feet.

However, sometimes it takes looking at a problem from a more segmented approach to see change. Here in Washington state, change is occurring that will get trained workers into the industry faster and onto the job.
This Special Issue will share information about incremental changes that will make a big difference.

If you've been working in the aerospace industry and would like to become a A&P Mechanic, without years of college, you may be eligible for a new program at Everett Community College.
Everett is awarded two federal grants for Aviation Test Technician training which will provide the industry with more specialized electricians in short order.
Over the past two years, the job market has been like a wind shear - a sudden change in the direction of the wind during bad storms. Many hope that 2011 will be smooth flying with new contracts and expected work.
